SHN’s coastal engineers provide technically-sound designs that consider aspects like public awareness and buy-in, environmental influences, and geologic conditions. Our coastal projects involve close cooperation with other consultants and agencies such as wetland scientists, fish & game, state coastal commissions, and local harbor commissions. We also work closely with our surveyors, geologists, and environmental engineers to coordinate the project in such a way as to diminish the project’s effects to the surrounding environment.

SHN staff members have conducted ocean outfall studies, boat ramp design, wetland mitigation bank restoration design, harbor facilities improvements and acquisition feasibility studies, design and construction monitoring of boat repair facilities, preliminary design of a dry dock facility, groin construction services, feasibility study and schematic design for a proposed large abalone farm, and numerous drainage and seismic/bluff stability studies throughout California and Oregon.

SHN’s coastal capabilities include:

  • Permitting
  • Economic Development
