SHN and its affiliated firms prepared a hydrologic and hydraulic assessment and preliminary design for a new interceptor, pump station, and forcemain to convey wastewater to the Elk River Treatment Plant.
The new interceptor system will eliminate the need for 14 pump stations that convey flows around the City before reaching the Elk River plant, thus reducing odor caused by extended transfer times in the existing conveyance pipelines and eliminating multiple points of wet weather overflow.
The project includes the design of a new gravity trunk sewer line and new sewer collectors tributary to the trunk sewer, a new 20 MGD pump station, a new sewer force main from the pump station to the existing Elk River Treatment Plant, abandonment of 14 existing sewage pump stations, and all appurtenant flow monitoring equipment.
SHN prepared hydrology and hydraulic routing, base mapping, alignment selection, surveying, environmental compliance, alternative analyses, cost benefit analysis, geotechnical evaluation, completion of an Environmental Impact Report, and other related services.
