Professional Licensed Surveyor Opportunity
SHN is actively searching for a mid/senior level surveyor, preferably holding PLS certification in California. If you have reached our website through the professional land surveyor associations of California, Oregon, or Nevada, thanks for reading the discussion board thread, and you may want to skip to the job advertisement or go straight to the job description.
If you’re interested based on our Facebook or other social media posts, here is some additional information. Our surveying group is lead by Tom Herman, PLS, who is our Principal Surveyor and also the Regional Manager of our Willits office. Three others who hold PLS certifications are based in Willits and Redding. Walter White, PLS, is our senior surveyor based in our Coos Bay, OR office. Tom and Walter are supported by a team of experienced survey technicians. This PLS opportunity is based in our Eureka office.
Some of the best aspects of this position are working in scenic and remote places, on many types of projects and landscapes throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon. Our surveying team uses the latest surveying technology and collaborates closely with our unmanned aerial services (“drones”) team. We provide surveying services such as parcel maps and major subdivisions, easement preparation, boundary surveying and property line surveys and adjustments, Records of Survey, ALTA land title surveys, bathymetric surveys, and construction staking and surveying.
We recognize that mid/senior level surveyors are currently in demand. Working in a small firm (fewer than 100 staff) has several advantages including a culture of teamwork and collaboration, and of connection to our communities and each other. Compensation is commensurate with experience and we think comparable to salaries in other parts of California, factoring in housing, transportation, daycare, and other living expenses in Humboldt County. SHN is a small but growing firm, and besides a competitive benefits plan, we offer an employee stock ownership program. Please read more about this PLS opportunity!
