Bob Brown, AICP, elected to California AEP Vice President of Programs
Bob Brown was elected by members of the California Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) to serve as Vice President of Programs for the North Coast. The AEP is a non-profit association of public and private sector professionals, who share a common interest in serving the principles that underlie the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which include environmental assessment, analysis, public disclosure, and reporting.
The AEP is well known for their CEQA workshops held throughout California, and Bob will be assisting in the Advanced CEQA Workshop to be held in Eureka on March 10, 2017. Bob (with Steve Donovan and Greg O’Connell) is also presenting a paper at the AEP's "Bridging the Gap" conference in San Francisco on May 20, 2017. The conference covers four days with talks in five session tracks, one of which is titled "It's All Geek to Me." Bob will lead the discussion on how we use new technology in CEQA analyses, such as trenchless technologies for mitigating disturbance and aesthetics impacts, trench scanning for geotechnical applications, ElectroScan technology for water infrastructure assessment, and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for vegetation mapping. Technology allows us to assess project sites with less disturbance and greater detail, and Bob, Steve, and Greg will present successful examples of new technology applied to environmental planning.
For 20 years, Bob was the Principal and guiding force of Streamline Planning Consultants in Arcata, CA. In early 2016, SHN and Streamline merged so we could offer a wider range of planning and permitting services, and improve our service to clients on the "front end" of projects.
